DIRECTOR AND CHOREOGRAPHER
Hello, my name is Daniel Maguire and welcome to my website. I am a theatre director, choreographer and producer, with special interest in musical theatre and pantomime. I have over 20 years’ experience working professionally in the entertainment industry.
Intro
Daniel trained at The Billie Barry Stage School in Dublin and later at The Academy of Musical Theatre Wales. Originally as a dancer, he enjoyed a long career as a performer appearing in musicals, pantomime, cabaret, TV and film before graduating to play character roles in musical theatre. Some favourite roles he played include The Beadle (Sweeney Todd), Bert Healy (Annie), Rasher Flynn (A Man Of No Importance) and Roscoe Dexter (Singin’ In The Rain). In more recent years Daniel has worked exclusively in theatre production as a director, choreographer and producer.
Biography
Daniel has been a scriptwriter for The Gaiety Theatre's productions of Cinderella (2012) and Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs (2013). He also has provided scripts for Santa’s House Express and Irish Ferries.
Daniel has directed Beauty and The Beast (T.L.T., Drogheda, National Opera House, Wexford and INEC, Killarney), Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella (National Opera House, Wexford and INEC, Killarney) and Jack And The Beanstalk (University Concert Hall Limerick), that was streamed globally due to the pandemic.
Productions that Daniel has both directed and choreographed include A Slice of Saturday Night (Draoícht, Dublin), SHOUT! The Mod Musical (The Powerscourt Theatre, Dublin, The Tivoli Theatre, Dublin, The Viking Theatre, Dublin and a 22 date Irish National Tour in 2017) and Stepping Out (Seán O’ Casey Theatre, Dublin) and FRIENDS! The Musical Parody on the U.K. & Ireland Tours of 2020 and 2022.
Daniel has choreographed Guys and Dolls (Inchicore College, Dublin), Sweet Charity (INEC Arena, Killarney), Side By Side By Sondheim (The National Concert Hall, Dublin), Jack And The Beanstalk (The Corn Exchange, Newbury), Blitz! (The Union Theatre, London) and more recently Dick Whittington and his Cat (Norwich Theatre Royal).
